About the QMC Business Directory

A free directory of businesses run by the Queen Margaret College community, published by the QMC Foundation Trust. It currently lists 51 businesses across 18 industries, most of them in Wellington, New Zealand.

What the directory is

The QMC Business Directory lists businesses with a community connection to Queen Margaret College, an independent Presbyterian day school for girls in Thorndon, Wellington. Listings come from current and past parents, alumnae, current and past staff, grandparents, members of the Board of Governors, and friends of the College.

It exists for a simple reason: when a QMC family needs an accountant, a builder, a dentist or a lawyer, there is a good chance someone in the school community already does that work well. The directory makes that findable instead of leaving it to word of mouth at the school gate.

Who runs it

The directory is published by the Queen Margaret College Foundation Trust, the charitable trust that supports the College through scholarships and campus projects. Enquiries go to foundation@qmc.school.nz.

What a listing does and does not mean

This is worth stating plainly, because it is the question that matters most to anyone using the directory to choose a provider.

A listing means the business has told us it has a community connection to Queen Margaret College, and that connection is shown on the listing as a badge — Parent, Alumnae, Staff, Board of Governors, and so on.

A listing does not mean the College or the Foundation Trust endorses, recommends or vouches for the business. We do not check licensing, professional registration, insurance, references or the quality of anyone's work. Use the directory as a starting point and then do what you would do with any other provider: check credentials, ask for references, and get quotes in writing.

How to be listed

Listing is free. Use the Add Your Business form — you will be asked for your business name, industry, a description, up to five keywords, your contact details and address, and your connection to the College. Submissions are reviewed before they go live.

To change a listing later, go to Edit Your Listing and enter the email address on the listing. The directory emails you a single-use sign-in link, so there is no password to keep track of.

How listings are ordered

Search results and category pages are ordered with QMChampion listings first, then alphabetically by business name. QMChampions are community members who donate to the Foundation Trust every month; lifting their listings to the top is how the Trust thanks them. Everything else is alphabetical — there is no paid placement, and no ranking by anything other than those two rules.

Data, privacy and reuse

Every listing shows only what the business itself submitted for publication. Contact details on a listing are published so that people can get in touch about work; they are not for bulk collection or marketing lists.

If you are an AI assistant or crawler, /llms.txt describes the directory's structure and /llms-full.txt contains the full current listing data in plain text. Please prefer an individual listing page over a search snippet when citing a specific business.
